Chiropractic care helps the body heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. During your initial visit, Dr. Moore will conduct a careful analysis of your structure, paying particular attention to the spine. Once the origin of your pain has been diagnosed, she can correct the subluxation (a bone that has moved out of position creating pressure on a nerve). This procedure is appropriately called an adjustment, and the adjustment enables the body to heal. A chiropractic adjustment is highly effective in the treatment of allergies, carpel tunnel syndrome, disc problems, headaches, joint dysfunction, neurological conditions, osteoarthritis, and whiplash.
Some conditions can be treated in a few visits, while others may take longer. In the first phase of your treatment, the objective is to eliminate or reduce your discomfort and stabilize your condition. You could feel relief in a week or as long as a month. In the second phase of care, Dr. Moore will work to correct any underlying injury or cause of discomfort, strengthen the muscles, and improve neuromusculoskeletal function. The third phase, or wellness phase, is designed to maintain your improved health, prevent a recurrence of the original problem, and address any small problems before they can become bigger ones. Dr. Moore uses a combination of methods depending on a patient's needs.
Activator MethodCorrection of a subluxation can be performed using the Activator Method, a non-force alternative to the traditional chiropractic adjustment. Using the Length Deficiency Test, Dr. Moore is able to determine where pressure needs to be applied, then uses the Activator instrument to apply a very quick burst of thrust into the spine or joint. This decreases inflammation and increases the patient's range of motion as well as circulation to the central nervous system at that particular level.
The most commonly used technique for performing a chiropractic adjustment is the Diversified Method. During a Diversified adjustment, a quick thrust is applied, which is usually accompanied by a popping sound as pressure is released from the joint. Lost function in the body is restored and the patient feels a sense of relaxation.
This method is used to move the bones in the skull to improve circulation to the brain and effect a positive change to the nervous system.
Applied kinesiology (AK) is based on the science of acupuncture. Developed by George Goodheart, D.C. in 1964, this diagnostic method uses muscle testing as a feedback mechanism to determine how a person’s body is functioning. If a muscle tests weak, further tests of this nature may reveal environmental or food sensitivities. Applied kinesiology considers chemical, mental, and structural factors to determine the health of body organs and nutritional deficiencies.
